Vision

Our vision states why we exist or what we are ultimately about.  Below is our vision statement and a phrase by phrase explanation following:

Real Life Church exists to spread the life of the risen Jesus Christ through word and works in the power of the Holy Spirit for the glory of God and the good of all people.

Real Life Church exists to spread the life of the risen Jesus Christ.  After Jesus had risen from the dead, he sent his disciples in his authority (Matthew 28:18-20, Mark 16:15) to spread the life that he came to give (John 10:10, 1 John 1:2-3, 1 John 5:11-12).

Through word and works.  The life of Christ is spread fundamentally in two ways.  First, as the gospel of Jesus Christ is faithfully spoken to those who do not yet know him, for this is the path to eternal life (Romans 10:13-17).  However, Christ's life is also manifest through the love of his people doing works of service and power (Matthew 5:14-16, John 13:34-35, Acts 8:5-8).

In the power of the Holy Spirit.  After Jesus had given the mission to his disciples, right before he ascended to heaven, he promised that the Holy Spirit would empower them to fulfill the mission he had given to them (Acts 1:8).  In fact, he told them not to start anything until they had received this empowerment (Luke 24:49).  The entire book of Acts (which is the biblical narrative of the early church) is the unfolding of Acts 1:8.

For the glory of God.  Our primary aim in all we do is the glory of God.  Real Life Church belongs to God - as everything else does (Psalm 24:1, Colossians 1:16).  Therefore all that we do should reflect his goodness and glory.  God's glory is supreme, because God is supreme (1 Corinthians 10:31, 1 Peter 4:11).

And the good of all people.  Jesus is the Savior of the whole world and therefore this good news of eternal life in Christ is for all people.  This is why the great commission is to "disciple nations" and "proclaim the gospel to all creation"  (Psalm 67:1-3, 1 Timothy 1:15, 1 John 2:2).
